Arsenal transfer targets 2009/10 – The top 5
Well this year has come to another end (well football year any way) and yet again Arsenal have to dust down the Emirates trophy cabinet with nothing in it. Finally Arsene Wenger has admitted, after two very embarassing defeats to Chelsea and Man Utd that we need to and will sign some players throughout the summer. I have collated together the top 5 transfer targets the papers have suggested and also some otherp layers who would be on the radar. Here they are:
Number 1 – Mamadou Sakho – PSG – Defender
Mamadou Sakho in action for PSG
Postion: Central Defence
Valuation: £8 – 12 million
Age: 18
Why him?
Mamadou Sakho is one of the hottest young players to have come out of France over the last few years. Currently at Paris St Germain, the versatile defender is French (always a bonus for Wenger) and is in the mould of Kolo Toure which is always good. He is the youngest player to captain PSG at only 17 and is a very bright prospect.
Number 2 – Pavel Pogrebnyak – Zenit St Petersburg – Attacker
Number 2 (only if Adebayor leaves) – Pavel Pogrebnyak – Zenit St Petersburg – Striker
The striker currently at Zenit St Petersburg
Postion: Striker
Valuation: £10 – 15 million
Age: 25
Why him?
He would be a new breath of fresh air up front and provides that same sort of Bendnter role with a touch more quality. He would only be signed if Adebayor was to leave though.
Number 3 – Sebastien Bassong – Newcastle – Defender
Postion:Defender
Valuation: £6 – 10 million
Age:22
Why him?
He is a tall quick Centre back who is young and still learning his trade. A second in my opinion to Sakho of PSG but Wenger likes the look of this young man (who’s French, no surprise there) and he could get him for a cut price if Newcastle go down. Lets hope they do!
Number 4 – Roque Santa Cruz – Blackburn – Striker
Postion: Striker
Valuation: £15 – 20 million
Age 27
Why him?
A good direct striker who could be the Henry we’ve been missing although I wouldn’t get any hopes up; Blackburn are askign a lot for this 27 year old and with offers of £18 million from Man City being rejected what is the chance of Wenger paying over £20 million the current asking price. Santa Cruz has said publicly he wants to leave but what are the chances of Arsenal getting him? Very little if you ask me.
Number 5 – Xabi Alonso – Liverpool – Defensive Midfield
Postion: Midfield
Valuation: £15 – 20 million
Age 27
Why him?
Really would be a great addition to the squad and a wonderful man to play alongside Fabregas in midfield providing that secuirty in front of the back four. If only we payed the extra £3 million last season I think our season could of been tottally different, but in heinsight that’s easy to say! I doubt will land him this summer after he’s recently said he doesn’t want to leave, but if Barry goes to Liverpool then you never know!

I thing should singn a striker that shoots from an angle of the pitch .eg. aguero,higuin,rossi of villareal(look what he did last night against USA).
When it comes to midfiel we should try and get someone that will allow fabregas to play freely. eg. M.Veloso,Joa moutinho,santi cazorla,and Tom Hudlestone.
David silva will be a grat asset alongside Fabregas
I dont thing that we need an extra defend because Song is a gud defender and if we have to buy one than Christian Zappata would be a great choice.

We have now got a little more experience in the team with eduardo and rosicky back from injury but i stil think they need 2/3 fresh faces. Cristian zapata would be a great signing as we need a tall centre back as our currently 2 lack high, he is also fast and very strong which is also a bonus. Xabi Alonso would be a excellent addition as he bring alot of experience. Also he controls the pace of the game with his amazing awareness and fastastic passing ability. The last signing that arsene wenger should look at is ashley young, hes fast, skillful and has an excellent delivery and is garenteed to have aleast 10 assists a season, and maybe a few goals i fink that he would work well with adebayor and bendtner as they are both very tall and good in the air.

i like to see Santa Cruz in arsenal on this sezon 2009/10 and i like to see Yaya Toure, Melone and reback of Hoze Atonyo Reyes from spain this is my opinion for Arsen Wenger

Adebayor should leave arsenal because his first touch of the ball is rubbish and he does miss a lot of chances, Mr wenger should also see what he does wrong we as supporters are tired of youth policy he should look at what others teams are doing the likes of liverpool i was verry to learn that wenger has an eye on Melo and will be happy if he could sign sakho also Gallas never shown to be an arsenal player and he should go as well we need a quality goalkeeper Alumunia should be playing in the carling cup only.

I think the manager should make some new contract i.e buying nw players.Not just players but players with focus and as well experience.i think getting a new player to play in the position of adebayor is going to be a good deal.and also fabregas is not really pulling his weight in the midfield zone.To buttres this i think that getting new players will be a better arsenal.Thank you.PAUL ONWURAH

I think we should sell adebayor and gallas and get david Villa or Xavi Alonso.But we need a strong defender luke upson or Lescot.I think pogrebnyak would work well with Arshavin.
Henry is to old to be a footballer so we shouldent buy him.

I would love to see Melo beside Fabregas next season and Luis Fabiano or Huntelaar playig as a striker for us.A combination of Nasri or Rosicky,Fabregas,Melo and Arshavin in the midfield would just be wonderful.I think Bendtner should be given more time.

i think arsenal is a great squad with alot of talent speed and mentality and the thing that is lacking is the strenght and the manager should get in players like rooney which will have the side win all the cup and the tournaments.And after that barcelona and club like real madrid’asshole’ can never even think of singing player like fabregas to their club

Must Haves for the defence problem (potential/realistic wise):
Mamadou Sakho
Sébastien Bassong
Cristián Zapata.
Must haves for the Defensive midfield problem (potential/realistic wise):
Moussa Sissoko
Étienne Capoue
Blaise Matuidi.
Who says we need a striker?
Eduardo, Arshavin, Walcott, RVP, Bendtner and an almost ready Vela all fit and well score bundles.
Not to mention goals coming from midfield with Cesc, Nasri and Rosicky all back.
Provided AW solves the defensive midfield problem I don’t think we will have a problem in scoring goals at all. We just need a solid strong consistent base from which to play our game, encourage our offensive minded players to score and create. Then fall back on the defensive players if needed.
Which is why I am flabbergasted at the fact that AW (the godfather of French starlets) has’nt snapped up the above already! In fact im pretty sure that if he’d talk to any of them and said, “Eeerrr, how about you come and play champions league with us, play beautiful and rewarding football, then perhaps develop into the best player you could possibly hope to be. Along with being on better wages, playing in an amazing stadium and playing in the best league in the world.” I am pretty sure that he could persuade Michel Platini out of retirement with that proposition! D:
Surely its only a matter of time before they’re playing for us?! For the sake of AFC I hope that they do, they’re could be the next Lillian Thuram or Patrick Vieira in there somewhere! Im certain! Shame the club alienates its fans when it comes to this kind of thing. But surely the scouting ability AW has (ie. Henry, Touré, Walcott, Bergkamp, Cesc, Sagna, Clichy…Ect) I should be content to trust, shouldn’t I?

Let wenger not be deceived that he has a team because the boys won the emirate cup.He still needs to beef up the defence,defensive midfield and 1 attacker because the attackers we have now are all injury prone.

we need to buy one top class defender one top class midfielder one top class attacker as well as goalkeeper
…….here r some names.Chucho Benitez,Belamy,Zapata , imagine what kind of team would it be if those players mixed with arsenal …….thank u i love u arsenal
