BREAKING NEWS: Our First Official Signing!
Breaking News: Arsenal have made the signing of Thomas Vermaelen official. He has signed on a long term contract for an undisclosed fee believed to be around 10million pounds.
Arsene Wenger who is very pleased over the deal said: “Thomas is a great signing for Arsenal Football Club, and we are all delighted that he is joining us. Thomas is a solid performer with good experience of Champions League and UEFA Cup football and is also a regular with the Belgium national team.”
He also said: “Thomas is primarily a left-footed centre back, but he’s multi-functional and can also play at left back. He is strong technically with a positive winner’s attitude and I have no doubt his arrival will strengthen our team. Thomas Vermaelen will be a huge asset to Arsenal.”
Vermaelen commented on his transfer by saying: “I’m just so happy to be joining Arsenal. This is a great Club with a world class manager, high quality players and a fantastic stadium. Everything is set up for Arsenal to be very successful for years to come and I joined this Club because I know Arsenal will be challenging for trophies.
“I have had a good taste of the Champions League during my time with Ajax and this is something I am looking forward to experiencing again with Arsenal. I’m also looking forward to playing in the English Premier League, which for me, is the best league in the world. Also, I just want to assure the Arsenal fans that I will give everything for this Club and I hope we can enjoy winning some trophies together next season.”

dont know that much about him but if he is solid and decent in the air (i know he is small, but so is carragher and gallas who are ok) then he should definately start!
Now we need another centre back, a CDM like veloso and possibly a striker if adickbyor goes lol

I think he’s a good signing but i think Gallas and toure are alright and do well together but if we can sort out the small problems (which im confident Wenger will) we will be rock solid at the back. But Vermaelen will provide good back up, as long as we dont use that liability silvestre, why buy a manure reject, you’ve seen how useless he is already so why keep him. On other signings, i say we go for melo, seen him at the confed cup and he’s terrific, strong ,fast and covers a lot of ground. and if adebayor goes, which im hoping he doesnt (got to keep the name lol, abdibayor) maybe edin dzeko (wolfsburg) or benzema (lyon). on Ribery, i would love to have him but dont think we need him,we’ve got enough attacking threat, e.g. fabregas, arshavin, adebayor, van persie, eduardo, bendtner, nasri, rosicky, walcott, vela etc. and if the deal is 30m plus bendtner(10m) then im not to keen, on that, we should keep bendtner, he makes mistakes but he’s gonna learn under wenger, he’s young, hungry, will step in as a good replacement. if he’s had a bad season with 15 goals, whats he’s good season gonna be like?
