Adebayor deal could be tied up by Thursday! But who should we replace him with?
Yesterday Arsenal-highlights.co.uk broke the news that Adebayor is a target for Mark Hughes men; Man City, even though he has already signed many forwards already this summer, with Carlos Tevez expected to join today.
Man City fly out on Thursday to South Africa to start their pre-season tour and it is thought Mark Hughes wants Adeabyor signed up and with them. There have been various reports from the world’s press regarding the deals economics as I shall show below:
The Sun: £25 million fee and £130,000 a week wages
The Daily Star: £30 million and £180,000 a week wages
Sky Sports News (head reporter): £22 million and wages over £170,000 a week
My View on things….
As many will probably know by now I am not a fan of Adebayor and still wasn’t when he scores those so called 30 great goals in a season. His ratio of chances to scoring was about 1 to 3 and that isn’t good enough. If we could get anything over £20 million for him I would be happy as Larry! We would then sign a good defensive midfielder with money available and sign another decent striker. Hopefully £25 million split = £12.5 million for a striker and £12.5 million for a Defensive midfielder.
But what striker should we buy?
Arsene Wenger announced on French radio that he saw Chamakh of Bordeaux as a possible replacement, and people have been jumping to conclusions that he will sign him straight after Adebayor is sold, or if he is sold. I wouldn’t be so sure that he doesn’t have other names in his hat:
Marouane Chamakh

Current Club: Bordeaux
Height: 1.85 metres
Weight: 70kg
Nation: Morrocco
Age: 25
Price: £8 – 10 million
Is he up for sale: Yes
Transfer possibility: 85%
Klaas Jan Huntelaar

Current Club: Real Madrid
Height: 1.83 metres
Weight: 78kg
Nation: Holland
Age: 25
Price: £9 – 15 million
Is he up for sale: Yes
Transfer possibility: 65%
Pavel Pogrebnyak

Current Club: Zenit St Petrsburg
Height: 1.83 metres
Weight: 76kg
Nation: Russia
Age: 25
Price: £9 – 15 million
Is he up for sale: No
Transfer possibility: 60%
Who would I like us to sign…
This seems easy to me; Huntelaar. He is the striker partner in the dutch team to Robin Van Persie who has just committed himself to the club and seeming Real Madrid want to sell him we could get a top class striker for around £15 million.
Bear in mind we have Eduardo so I doubt Arsene will go for an expensive name like Huntelaar so don’t expect to much.
Till next time AFC-Andy!
Whats your opinion on this? Give us a comment.

Klaas Jan Huntelaar. He has a better strike rate and besides we don’t have to entertain the thought of Chamakh leaving in january for the african cup of nations

All the people you’ve mentioned are strikers. We have plenty of them so I’d spend the cash from Adebayor on a quality DM and get another Centre-Half with any change.
Our goal tally last season suggests we had no problem there. And Arshavin next season, with the addition of Rosicky and EDuardo gaurantee even more.
Where all our problems lay is goals conceded. A quality DM will reduce that problem dramatically.

The deal i understand with Huntelaar has been on the cards for a while arsenal just had to get someone daft enough to buy Abe
This is the main reason RVP signed a new contract as he was offered more money elsewhere but he wants to play at club level with Huntelaar who without doubt have the same inpact as fornando torres on the EPL
Expect the deal to go through by Monday 20th July

I say, IF we get that 30 million then go for Huntelaar….he’s a quality striker. Not only that….if we actually get him for 15-16 million then I say invest the rest of the money in a defensive midfielder, someone like Lorik Cana. My money was on Melo..but now that he’s going to Juventus, that dream of mine is shattered. Cana would be of great asset to us. So, this will give us more firepower and more protection (in defensive of course )

Agree with Kanul, Huntelaar and Cana would be awesome signings

I think it wouldnt be a bad idea to invest in Chamakh, if adebayor leaves for 25 mil’ than we can get Marouane for 10 easily, than we have 15 million left, Matuidi for 4 and then David Wheater for 10 , a new striker, Defensive midfielder and a good old fashioned english cenetr half, Brilliant.

Oh and one more thing…
Perhaps it wouldnt be a bad idea if, instead of Melo, we went for his team mate Vargas,a versatile player, who can play multiple positions and still has 6 or 7 playing years before his ability starts going downhill.
10 Mil for Vargas and we can still get a striker.

Melo was my first choice as an addition to the squad, second was Dzeko. My comment still stands..huntelaar OR dzeko and Cana. Selling 1 player and buying 2 quality ones is a snatch ain’t it?

i hope we do get 25 mil for ADE…if we do get that we first need to buy huntelaar this chamakh guy is not as good as ADE and i doubt he and van perise will form a stron partnership…dutch duo will bring trophies to arsenal…and we realy need cana now…so if we can get those 2 players arsenal will be challenging the best in europe…and this thing about too many strikers…we play the most physical league in the world…we have to rest our main guys sometimes and when we do rest them i would definately like to see quality in lace for them…EDUARDO AND BENDTNER!…i realy think bendther is gonna explode this season..gunner 4 life

I think we should sign Atsuto Uchida and Shinji Kagawa as well as going for chamakh or agbonlahor or benarfa or saurez.
