Melo In, Eboue Out plus Contract Talks et al.
News coming in this afternoon from Fiorentina is that Defensive midfielder Filipe Melo has been involved in a swap deal with Arsenal’s Emmanuel Eboue.
Melo, who has been linked with Arsenal since the beginning of the summer has recently signed a one-year contract extension with the Italian side. Does that not rule him out then? Interestingly Melo’s new contract features a 25mil euro (20mill) buy out clause. I highly doubt that Wenger is willing to splash 20mil on a single player, especially one today that has also been linked with a move to Italian giants Juventus. Melo’s agent claimed that he would be more than happy to sign should Juve make an offer.

Fiorentina claim that Arsenal are the only team to have made an offer and come near the buy out clause. Should this rumour be true than it should be something like 14mil plus eboue. Personally i am not too pleased with this. I feel Wenger has more sense then to buy a newely commited player costing 20mil and getting rid of one of our most versatile players even if it is eboue! If this is true than why the long delay and not get things done before he signed a new deal? We obviously could have got him cheaper but yet again the slow tactics of Arsenal could cost us a much needed player or pay more then we should in just a matter of days.
I dont think Melo is really worth the asking price and would be happier to see someone solid in the middle such as Lorik Cana or even Veloso.
In other news be it old, Real Madrid obviously read one of my former posts, they approved and went out and bought Raul Albiol before Wenger got a chance to read it.
I told you Wenger! Albiol is the man!
Some papers are also claiming that Van. Persie is close to signing a new deal, fingers crossed on this one! More news hopefully when and not if he does sign!

What do you think Gooners, leave us a comment.
Enjoy the weekend all.

I agree with you. Although, I actually don’t want Eboue to leave. Towards the tail eld of the season, he’s shown why Wenger signed him from Beveren, as well as his versatility.

Wenger should keep Eboue… He’s a trump card. As for Melo, for me he’s a very technically sound player with bigger passing range than Cana or Veloso (for me, both not able enuf for premiership). So, I’d prefer him.

I will be very sad seeing Eboue leaving i definitely want to see Melo in Arsenal but leaving Eboue to go is another set back for Bakari Sagna to the right the whole season that is not good for us too.I prefer Senderos to go than allowing letting Eboue to go .Please Wenger u are wise in whatever u are doing pls use Senderos or go for Cana or Veloso or any other. It will be a big mistake to let Eboue go

Agree that Eboue leaving is not such a great idea. Extremely versatile, most direct Arsenal player when attacking and can provide a good cross, something which could be utilised against Bolton, Birmingham and Stoke.
I don’t think Melo is worth the amount of money they want. Denilson is a brilliant DM

denilson is sooo average.. we need a new one badly. We’re not getting melo now so get veloso or cana!
