Isn’t it just plain stupid only to sign one player this transfer window?
I feel disappointed and somewhat annoyed of how Arsene Wenger seems it liable to sell two main players this transfer window and bring in one (Thomas Vermaelen) as a like for like replacement. If Arsenal want to challenge for all trophies this season we needed a better squad, and without a doubt needed another CB. I have put my argument in sections below:
Why am I so disappointed in Wenger?
Wenger said at the end of last season and towards the start of this season that he was going to sign “2 or 3 players,” with no one to leave.
This has been a blatant lie; Kolo Toure and Adebayor have left and I felt at the time that was great business because we could buy players to replace them at a reasonable cost. This simply has not happened and we appear to have banked the £40 million made.

Kolo Toure’s departure was effectively organised before the transfer window was opened and Thomas Vermaelen was a simple replacement, which as worked well. But we have basically been left with a squad the same as last season. Where have these supposed transfers been? There was absolutely nothing about Arsenal on transfer deadline day about Arsenal and how can you rely on Tomas Rosicky when he always injured.
Injuries
We cannot rely on our older players to stay fit. It’s as simple as that. Rosicky cannot be relied on at all and after finally getting himself match fit he will probably get himself injured in The Czech Republic match on Wednesday.

Currently Djourou is our only replacement CB on our books and he is injured with a back problem. What will happen should Vermaelen or Gallas get injured throughout the season if Djourou is also out. We cannot rely on our Reserve CB’s to play Premier League and Champion League football immediately. It’s just ridiculous we haven’t bought another replacement. I do not believ Senderos will want to put the effort in after he was afeectively thrown out of the club and couldn’t get sold, so how will he want to play?

Finally what happens is Fabregas gets little nicks all the time? Diaby and Denilson are not good enough replacements currently and Song although good in my opinion doesn’t have a great passing range.
What will happen in January?
In January we could be leading the league and winning most games we play should we remain injury free. The possibility of us being injury free is very little though, so I doubt that.

More likely is we need to buy another CB after it’s finally been realised by Wenger that he needed to buy earlier and a new Central Midfielder will be enquired about but not bought.
I’m not asking for Wenger’s head no way near but please use some common sense.
I like many other Arsenal fans still believe Wenger is a great manager and the best we’ve ever had and up until recently haven’t doubted him at all. I think when he has the right players he’s the best in the world, but truthfully all Arsenal fans know we have missed a trick this transfer window, with one or two players added to Vermaelen’s signature we could have been a different team.
If we don’t win anything this season, although I am 99% certain we will I will look back to this lack of common sense and just think, What If ?

Please, arsenal fans , just start crying because, with no signings we are no where near trophies.
But, wenger should also know the trust fans has put in him.Secondly, he should know that, this time if we dont take any troph, he like to face abacklash.
Because, enough is enough. We have been patient enough.
I myself i trust wenger, it seems he doesnt care about the fans.
Therefore he must be ready. May be he is planning to leave the team, that, why he doesnt care.
Good day crying fans.

I totally agree with you, because it’s like the last year arsene keep telling us that he believe in the squad and we gain nothing, i think sometimes the squad need only for one or two players to be perfect and he does nothing and at the end of the season he keep telling us that we improved and need and we reach the semi final of all cups i think it’s bullshit he doesn’t sign elshmach because the price is high by two mill he doesn’t thinking about the money he will bring if we win the league or the champions 2 mill is nothing compared to it.and finally i think we need for a striker and midfielder and cb and less priority a goal keeper and i think Gignac is better than elshmach because he is gona ad more power which we lack and for cb hangland is good choice

If you read Wenger’s in-depth interview in Daily Mail earlier in Aug, you will realise that Wenger’s focus is on developing youth and not letting their development getting hindered by new signings or old legs. He cites an example that when Fabregas was knocking on the door for regular first team football, he let Viera go as he couldn’t ensure both of them to find a starting line-up.
Now i don’t necessarily agree with this philosophy in its completeness. I would’ve preferred a mix of young upcoming talent with some seasoned, battle-hardened players. If we stick with the current youths for 2-3 years, we may have an excellent team challenging for all titles, but what is the guarantee that they would stay? Wenger developed Flamini, Hleb and Greedybayor, and they basically left for more money. What is the guarantee that Fab, Song, Wally, Ramsey et al stay with us once they are established players and the sugar daddy clubs come with their offers of £150k a week? If that happens, these trophyless seasons of youth development would go to the drains and we’ll need to start from scratch, and Wenger would have only himself to blame for these barren trophyless years.

IM SICK OF THIS!!!!!….if we end up trophy less this season…i dnt blame arshavin, RVP, and to some extent fabregas from leaving….although i think fabregas should be in it for the long haul…wenger made him….but if he were to choose his home BARCA i wudnt be that upset just disapointed….sigh….please wenger i hope u kno wat ur doin…

Wenger screwed up – we needed at least three players to replace the 8 world class we lost since 2006. Henry still hasn’t been replaced. Diarra is playing in the best team in the world right now!!!. Arsene has lost the plot in the transfer market. I think we’ll give a good showing in the league {2nd maybe). But for the Champs league – the likes of JUVE, BARCA & INTER are too strong for us. three players he should’ve signed LUISAO, TOULALAN, CHAMAKH

Bingo, you are absolutely right!
Once again, Wenger sells more than he buys. That’s two seasons in a row. All this talk about Eduardo and Rosicky being like new purchases is bollox. The chances of those two staying injury free for most of the season is low.
Every non Arsenal fan I talk to says Wenger is an idiot cuz we could seriously win trophies if we only had a couple more top players. But Wenger prefers to constantly leave the squad just that little bit short of what it needs in terms of experience and quality to get us over the final hurdle and see us through the tough patches. An arrogant eccentric French idiot.
