Champions League Draw

It’s Arsene Wenger’s 20th year as Arsenal manager and he has managed so many teams Arsenal teams in the Champions League, having qualified nearly every year since he’s been there. Which means it’s hard to keep track of how many times we have played various teams from across Europe under his management. After the most recent draw though, we have been drawn alongside big spending Paris Saint-Germain, Swiss side Basel and the Bulgaria side Ludogorets who have qualified for the group stages for only the second time.

PSG have been unstoppable in the French Lique 1 over the past for years, but never quite achieved what they have hoped for in The Champions League. They are however still a tough to currently play, especially at home in Paris. Both them and Arsenal should easily be the two teams to qualify from this group, with Arsenal hoping they can this time top the group. They have managed to avoid the likes of Barcelona and Bayern Munich so far but if they can overcome the challenge of the current Ligue 1 champions then they could avoid them too in the next round. Below are Arsenal’s Group A Champions League fixtures for the next few months:

groupaPSG vs Arsenal (13 September)

Arsenal vs FC Basel (28 September)

Arsenal vs Ludogorets (19 October)

Ludogorets vs Arsenal (1 November)

Arsenal vs PSG (23 November)

FC Basel vs Arsenal (6 December)

I’m going to stick my neck out and say yes we can top the group this year for sure and hopefully avoid some of the big boys from some of the other groups that have been drawn as well:

Group A: PSG, Arsenal, Basle, Ludogorets

Group B: Benfica, Napoli, Dynamo Kiev, Besiktas

Group C: Barcelona, Manchester City, Borussia Monchengladbach, Celtic

Group D: Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid, PSV Eindhoven, Rostov

Group E: CSKA Moscow, Bayer Leverkusen, Tottenham, Monaco

Group F: Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, Sporting Lisbon, Legia Warsaw

Group H: Juventus, Sevilla, Lyon, Dinamo Zagreb
